These selected spots enabled us to determine the most effective method for removing both the layer of white household emulsion overpaint and the graffiti.
Following thorough testing, we successfully removed the white overpaint and graffiti using mechanical techniques, supplemented by solvent-based solutions to soften paint areas and eliminate paint residues.
Once the overpaint was eliminated, the original murals, now revealed, underwent meticulous surface cleaning to eliminate any remaining dirt and historical soiling. Structural issues encountered during the cleaning process were addressed through consolidation using emulsion-based adhesives.
To safeguard against potential future graffiti damage, a sacrificial protective wax layer was delicately applied to the paint surface.
